Intresting how when we invaded Cuba to "liberate" the people from Spain in the early 1900's we passed a law basically saying we wouldn't annex them as a state, and then look what happens Fidel Castro comes along, dictates everything, and we can't touch him. Maybe we should of annexed them as a state? Are we not doing the same thing now?
We invade Iraq to "liberate" them. But in reality, we were trying to instill a "safer" middle east, and we needed there economy to work with us because of the oil. We have over thrown one dictator and we are helping set them free. But, like Cuba, can they really maintain a democracy? Maybe we should just admit its about the oil and annex Iraq. Or is that blasphemy? Seems to me were stuck over there, and when we leave it will just be taken over by another dictator. Why not make them a state, extend our terriotory, give them rights, give us a finger in the pie of the middle east, and protect them from ourselves and dictators? |
